Hello, we are Jarryd and Maria, an energetic dreamer and a pragmatic creative living in Melbourne’s outer east. We make hand-crafted 3D wall art in our home studio.
Having dabbled, studied, and eventually worked in the areas of visual art and industrial design, our artwork perfectly blurs the line between our two loves and has become the ultimate collaborative project. Olka Studio is our escape from all that goes on in our busy lives, a place for us to test ideas, create and add interest to what would otherwise be an empty space.
Celebrating the power of natural light and shadow, our works are the result; tonal compositions that explore three-dimensional form in all its beauty. Changing with their surrounding light, the pieces take on new expressions throughout the day, bringing your walls to life. Honouring the work’s natural properties and playful minimalism, we’ve aimed to create accessible art pieces that work to enliven blank walls, as well as promote an owner’s pre-adorned world, by simply adding to the allure and depth of the space.
Our Medium: With a long history, plaster has been widely used as a decorative medium for centuries. Although for many current sculptors, plaster is merely an intermediary material used in the lost wax process, we celebrate this lightweight, natural material for its subtle textural qualities, sculptural adaptability and resilience. Superbly well-suited to bring any form to life, this humble material gives us the freedom to express ourselves, our passion and our creativity without limitations.
